We strive to produce the best legal results possible for our clients, while recognizing that managing costs, remaining within budget guidelines and following a mutually-agreed-upon litigation plan are all critical elements of our representation. For example, the Defense Research Institute has adopted comprehensive litigation guidelines, which our firm and many of our clients have adopted. We already have significant experience in working with every aspect of those guidelines. Some clients have proprietary litigation planning and budgeting systems in place, and we have been successful in delivering our services while complying with a variety of preferred structures and processes.

MANAGING COST

Selman Breitman is equally adept at working collaboratively with clients to develop and follow realistic budgets. We understand that clients prefer to avoid surprises as well as unexpected cash flow issues. Our current technology allows us to respond to clients’ billing requirements and produce bills through the use of client-mandated billing software. We can prepare bills in the traditional manner or by electronic means.

ALTERNATE FEE ARRANGEMENTS

Our Firm has also structured several alternative fee arrangements. Although the hourly rate is the traditional form of billing for legal matters, some clients may benefit from a flat fee, or a budgeted amount for a specific period of service or group of cases. We are also open to constructing fee arrangements that are results driven.

EARLY RESOLUTION

We understand that cost/exposure ratios need to be carefully considered when contemplating litigation. Resolving cases quickly is both in the clients' best interest and our strategic preference. Ultimately, clients make litigation decisions based on business considerations. Our commitment is to pursue the most cost-effective strategy to meet our clients' business objectives.
